Dennis Thompson - Crop Improvement Scholarship
Dennis Thompson - Crop Improvement Scholarship Students applying for the Dennis Thompson - Crop Improvement Scholarship must have freshman class standing. Candidates must express an interest in or be majoring in Agronomy, CASNR, IANR, University of Nebraska-Lincoln. This scholarship will be for $1000. Preference shall be given to graduates of any Class B, C, or D high school located in any of the following counties in Nebraska: Arthur, Banner, Blaine, Boyd, Brown, Buffalo, Box Butte, Chase, Cherry, Cheyenne, Custer, Dawson, Dawes, Dundy, Franklin, Frontier, Furnas, Garden, Garfield, Gosper, Grant, Harlan, Hayes, Hitchcock, Hooker, Holt, Kearney, Keith, Keya Paha, Kimball, Lincoln, Logan, Loup, McPherson, Morrill, Perkins, Phelps, Red Willow, Rock, Scottsbluff, Sheridan, Sherman, Sioux, Thomas, Valley, or Deuel. High School classification will be based on the current classification system used by the Nebraska School Activities Association, or on the equivalent classes of any future system. Scholarship monies will be deposited directly into the student's UNL account to be used for tuition or books.
NCIA Upperclassman Scholarship
Students applying for the Nebraska Crop Improvement Association Upperclassman Scholarship must be a current student enrolled at the University of Nebraska with a sophomore or greater standing. They must possess a strong interest in agriculture and major in a degree program offered by the Department of Agronomy and Horticulture. Additionally, active involvement in relevant extracurricular activities related to your academic pursuits will be considered. This scholarship will be for $1000. Scholarship monies will be deposited directly into the student's UNL account.
NCIA Agricultural Industry Scholarship
To be considered for the Nebraska Crop Improvement Association Agricultural Industry Scholarship, applicants must be current University of Nebraska students with at least sophomore standing. Candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in the agricultural industry and be pursuing a degree related to agriculture within the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. Active involvement in relevant extracurricular activities related to agriculture will also be taken into account. This scholarship provides $1000, with funds deposited directly into the recipient's UNL account. The scholarship may be used for tuition or books.
Nebraska Certified Seed Scholarship
To be considered for the Nebraska Certified Seed Scholarship, applicants must be currently enrolled graduate students at the University of Nebraska. Candidates should be pursuing advanced studies in plant breeding or a closely related field within the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. A demonstrated interest in the seed industry and involvement in relevant research or professional activities will be favorably considered. The scholarship provides $2000, with funds deposited directly into the recipient's UNL account. The scholarship may be used for tuition, research expenses, or other educational costs.
Educational and Research Grants
The Nebraska Crop Improvement Association has a Grant Fund to support investigations and promotion of seed science related projects in Nebraska.
Grant proposals will be accepted for projects which cover a one to three year period. However, funding will only be approved on a annual basis (April 15). Funding of grants have a maximum of $3000 per year.
Funding of grant proposals are a function of the NCIA Board of Directors. Guidelines are available from the NCIA office. Grant requests must be submitted by March 1 to:
